Standard TXT
If you are receiving an error message on your mobile when attempting to send a TXT message to a local mobile number, you may need to check the following;
Do you have enough signal strength on your mobile phone? Can you make voice calls?
Check the signal strength to ensure that Network coverage is available.
Attempt a manual reset. Turn the phone off, take the SIM out gently. Replace SIM, turn the phone back on and try again. [NT1]
Try sending a TXT with your SIM in another phone. If you are successful in sending a TXT, it may be an issue with your handset, if it does not work and the following suggestions do not work you may have a faulty SIM.
Try sending a test TXT to your own number - was it successful or unsuccessful? This will test your sending and receiving capabilities in one go.
Do you have the correct Message Centre Number programmed into your phone?
Go through the Menu of your phone and select Message Settings. Confirm that the Message Centre Number is +61415011501.
Is the message sending format set to Text or Standard?
Confirm that the format is set to Text. This is also found in Message Settings for most handset types. Please refer to your phone manual.
Make sure your inbox and outbox are not full. This can stop you from receiving TXT messages and may also affect your sending capabilities.
For Prepaid customers: Do you have sufficient credit on your phone?
Free call to 1512 will confirm your account balance.
For Prepaid customers: Have you recently recharged your credit?
As an automatic rule, Prepaid Recharge Offers are automatically barred from sending TXT as soon as their credit drops below the cost of a single TXT. Once credit is recharged, a delay may be expected until the barring is lifted. You may contact Vodafone on free call 1555 on your mobile for further assistance.
International TXT
If you are experiencing difficulty with sending TXT to an overseas mobile number, please check the following;
Have you been able to send TXT to this number previously?
If so, the network may be temporarily down and there may be a delay before you can send.
Can the recipient receive TXT from other numbers?
If not it may be a fault with the recipients provider or with the recipients phone.
Does Vodafone have a TXT agreement with the country you are sending a TXT to?
You can view a list of compatible overseas Networks by going to the Global Roaming section of our website or click here to access.
