Prepaid Mobile Broadband Device Unlocking

Answer

Are the Prepaid MBB Devices (Huawei K3520) locked to the Vodafone AU network?

Yes, all Prepaid Mobile Broadband devices are locked to the Vodafone Australia network. If a customer wishes to use the device with another network they will need to unlock the device by following the device unlocking instructions available on www.vodafone.com.au/unlock.

There is an initial limited stock of Prepaid MBB Devices that are soft locked. Customers can obtain the unlocking instructions for these devices without a fee, from www.vodafone.com.au/unlock .

After the stock of these soft locked devices have been sold out, all subsequent devices will be hard locked. Customers can obtain unlocking instructions for hard locked devices from www.vodafone.com.au/unlock.

Fees will apply as follows:

  • If you unlock your device online within the first six months of purchase, your unlock fee will be $75
  • If you unlock your device online at any time after the first six months of purchase, your unlock fee will be $25

Customers must obtain the device unlocking instructions from the website because the instructions involve downloading a small unlocking software application.

How do I identify if the Prepaid MBB device is soft locked or hard locked?

Enter the IMEI into the www.vodafone.com.au/unlock website. The Handset Unlocking Application will indicate whether a payment is required to obtain the unlocking instructions for that IMEI.

Where can I find the IMEI on the Prepaid MBB device?

The IMEI can be found on the USB Stick itself, after removing the cover of the device. The IMEI is also printed on the box label.
