Why is the account balance for Prepaid available immediately and the balance for Postpaid customers delayed?

Answer

The network takes anywhere between 4 - 24 hours from the time a call is made for it to travel along the network, be charged out (rated) and then become available for you to view your call history (for both Prepaid and Postpaid customers).

With account balance retrievals, Prepaid call balances are updated as calls are made (as it is Prepaid), so you can get a real-time account balance. You still need to wait up to 24 hours to see your call records, but your account balance is immediately available.

Postpaid is a bit different. Because it doesn’t need to remove credit balances, Postpaid balance is only as up to date as the call rating. When the call records are processed they are rated and then stored to allow you to access them online (up to 24 hours after making a call).
