Can I purchase the insurance for my handset at any time?

No. You can only purchase the insurance in the following circumstances:

  • You have purchased your handset from an authorised Vodafone store, or as part of a handset upgrade from Vodafone's call centre; and
  • You purchase the insurance at the time of the handset purchase; or
  • You receive a marketing offer from Vodafone offering You the insurance.

What if I change my mind?

You have a cooling off period of 14 days from when You take out cover during which You can cancel Your policy without charge. You can cancel Your policy at anytime during the cooling off period simply by contacting Vodafone Customer Care on 1555 FREE from a Vodafone mobile or call 1300 650 410 from any other phone.

You may also cancel the policy at any time after the cooling off period by giving Vodafone Customer Care written notice.

Can my policy be cancelled by ACE?

Yes. Your policy may be cancelled by ACE in accordance with the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth), however, Your cover will also terminate on the date when:

  • Your Vodafone Network Service Agreement for the Equipment is cancelled; or
  • You sell or pass Your right, title or interest in the Equipment to some other person.

What if I change my phone?

If You upgrade or change Your phone, please ask Your local Vodafone store to complete a Handset Insurance Form to update Your insured handset. This needs to be completed on the day You purchase or receive Your new or replacement handset – Your cover will be invalidated if you fail to do this. See the General Conditions section of the booklet on page 13 for more information.

How do I contact ACE, Marsh or Vodafone?

If You need to contact ACE, Marsh or Vodafone, have any questions or would like any further information regarding this policy, refer to the "Information about ACE, Marsh, Vodafone and VHA" section of the booklet on page 16.

What if I need to make a complaint?

If You are not satisfied with any part of the product or service we provide You we would like the opportunity to set things right. Please refer to the "Complaints & resolving your dispute section of the booklet on page 15 for more information about what to do if You have a complaint.

Am I covered if I lend the phone to someone else?

Other adults who You permit to use Your phone receive the same cover that You do.

Will I be advised when there are changes to this PDS or to my cover?

ACE may update the information contained in this PDS when necessary. A paper copy of any updated information is available to You at no cost by calling ACE or Vodafone. ACE will issue You with a new PDS or a supplementary PDS, where the update is to rectify a misleading or deceptive statement or an omission which is materially adverse from the point of view of a reasonable person deciding whether to obtain this Policy.

Are there GST or Tax Implications to me buying this insurance?

Generally your premiums are not tax deductible, however, this information is a general statement only and You should see your tax adviser for information about Your personal circumstances. Where You are liable to pay an amount of GST in respect of an acquisition relevant to Your claim, ACE will pay for the GST amount. However, in no event will ACE pay more than the limits of cover shown in the policy.

How do I get a temporary rental phone if my phone is lost, damaged or stolen while I am overseas?

Overseas Temporary Rental cover only applies to your travel to Europe. The procedure for Overseas Temporary Rental is as follows:

1. Before you travel to Europe, contact Vodafone and advise them of Your intention to travel.
2. When in Europe, if Your phone is lost, Damaged or stolen and You require a temporary rental phone, ensure You retain necessary receipts for the rental provided.
3. On return to Australia, a claim must be lodged with the Vodafone Cover me Mobile Insurance Service Team on 1800 808 743. Your rental receipts will need to be provided as part of Your claim lodgement.
4. Upon approval of Your claim for a replacement handset a reimbursement for the temporary rental costs will be made to Your Vodafone account. See the General Condition section 1(c) of the booklet on page 13 for more information.
