4. Have I received a hoax TXT message?

Vodafone does not support the unsolicited sending of block TXT messages such as hoax, spam, or chain letters. Vodafone do however send genuine TXT messages relating to promotions and operational messages containing information considered vital to our customers. Click here if you do not wish to to receive Vodafone approved TXT messages.

There have been several hoax TXT messages that have circulated in the past. You would not have to pay to receive these messages but you might be encouraged by these text messages to call a number which is often a premium rate number. We advise that if you receive a text message asking you to call anumber you do not recognise, you should ignore and delete it.

Hoax TXT messages are along the lines of,

"If you send this TXT to 5 of your friends you will be entitiled to free TXT from Vodafone/Optus or Telstra for 6 months".
"Send this TXT message on to 8 people and you'll get free TXT for a month".

If you have been suspended or disconnected from the Vodafone Network you will not receive TXT Updates. Click here to submit your query via "Contact Us".
