What does “Enter subsidy password”, "SIM card is locked" or “Insert correct SIM card” mean?

Answer

If a non Vodafone SIM is inserted into your handset, the screen of your handset may display an error message or the type “Enter subsidy password” or “Insert correct SIM card”. If this occurs then the handset you have is locked to Vodafone Australia’s network and having a non Vodafone SIM in it may prevent you from making calls. If you wish to make calls on another carrier’s network and your handset has been locked by Vodafone, your handset will need to be unlocked.

Note: If your handset has been locked to the Vodafone network and it has not yet been unlocked, you'll still be able to dial Emergency Services with a non-Vodafone SIM or no SIM in your handset. To dial 112 Emergency Services you'll need to be in the coverage of a mobile network provider.
