BlackBerry® from Vodafone provides two solutions:
1. BlackBerry Enterprise Solution
Works by setting up a server that connects to the email system within the company (Microsoft Exchange, Novel Groupwise or Lotus Domino).
Whenever an email is sent to a user that has a registered BlackBerry device, the BlackBerry server receives a copy that is then encrypted and sent to the device via the Vodafone GPRS Network.
Allows full wireless automatic synchronisation for email, calendar, contacts, tasks and memos.
The device de-crypts the message and it's displayed on the screen.
2. BlackBerry Internet Solution
Works in very much the same way but connects up to 10 IMAP/POP3 email accounts and sends any message that is received in those accounts, straight to the BlackBerry device via the Vodafone GPRS network.
The device comes with a USB cable and software to connect your computer to the device. This allows you to save, back-up and synchronize calendar, contacts, tasks and memos between your computer and device.
